The abnormal loads and while exemption permits unit is mandated to manage abnormal loads and abnormal vehicles on the Gauteng Province Public road network, to protect road infrastructure and ensure safe movement and conveyance of abnormal loads and vehicles in line with NRTA (ACT 93 of 1996) and NRTR of 2000.
To apply manually one would need to submit a letter requesting an inspection for a vehicle, the letter should state whether the inspection is for a new vehicle (never been registered on the Gauteng’s AVR system) or the renewal (exist on the AVR system for Gauteng), name of the client, address where the vehicle will be inspected, vehicle description with registration (semi-trailer, dolly ,Truck tractor, etc.), sequence number (if issued with one previously) and finally the letter must be signed off. It should be noted that additional documentation may be requested from the applicant pre or post inspection.
